The demolition of Swallow Cliff Woods Toboggan Slides
began today and is expected to last seven to ten days.
During the demolition the "Exercise Course"
will remain opened.
“While we are saddened that the toboggan slides
are being demolished, we are excited that the hill will
be available next winter for sledding” said Gorman.
“I fought hard to keep the slides in operation,
but in the end the Forest Preserve District Board voted
15 to 2 for demolition of the slides, but I want it made
clear that this vote does not preclude future development
plans for other recreational activities” added Gorman.
“I am sponsoring a resolution to open the door for
potential future development of the recreational areas.”
During this long process, Commissioner Gorman worked
to secure funding for the repair of the exercise course
that is enjoyed by residents from all around the greater
Chicagoland area including health enthusiasts, runners
and school sports teams. “I am gratified that we
were able to secure SB83 money to repair the exercise
course so area residents and sports teams can enjoy this
benefit.” |
