My office contacted Christopher Burke Engineering, the engineer for the County of Cook. We were advised that the standing water is the result of a broken drain tile which will be temporarily repaired until the construction of 108th Avenue is completed. This project is schedule to begin this summer and to be completed next year. At that time, a permanent solution will be implemented.

The Cook County Highway Department has let this project out for bid. Bids should be recieved by July 28. At that time, we will have a better idea as to when the project will begin and how long it will take. Keep checking back for more information.

108th Ave will be closed to all traffic beginning October 30th until
November 23rd when it will be opened for one lane of traffic with flaggers. The one lane closure will last until approximately December 25th when the road will be fully opened until Spring 2007.

The scope of the work being done this fall is drainage work at the north end of the road to alleviate flooding issues and the construction of a retaining wall approximately 300 ft. south of Jillian on the west side of the street.

108th Avenue has been opened for travel since November 23, 2006. It will not be closed down again until sometime in spring.

Currently, the issue of flooding at the north end of 108th Ave. has been fixed and should not flood again.

108th Avenue will again be closed beginning April 2, 2007 to all traffic for approximately six weeks. The same detour route will apply as did in the fall of last year. Click here for the detour routes.

108th Avenue will be closed between Jillian Rd. and 159th Street beginning on June 11, 2007. The road will re-open between Jillian and 153rd St. at that time. On June 22nd, 2007 it will open between Somer Glen and 153rd.

THIS PROJECT IS A METRA PROJECT

METRA has been experiencing delays related to Commonwealth Edison and the utility easements on 108th Ave. The delays have been worked out and Commonwealth Edison has given METRA a completion date of September 11 as the target completion date for their work. Once they have moved their utility poles, the work will begin again. The compeltion date for 108th Avenue is mid to end of December 2007. At that time, the road will be completely opened between 143rd and 159th St.
