President
Obama signed a disaster declaration into law on Friday,
May 10th that will make federal funds available to Illinois
residents in 11 counties hit by last month’s severe
flooding.
The individuals and business owners are eligible to
apply for grants for temporary housing and home repairs,
and low-interest loans for uninsured property losses.
Property owners in Cook,
DeKalb, DuPage, Fulton, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake,
LaSalle, McHenry and Will counties now have the opportunity
to begin the application process for federal aid. Residents
must first register at
www.disasterassistance.gov
or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
For hearing and speech impaired:
1-800-462-7585. Both numbers will operate from 7am to
10pm / seven days a week.
